Former national coach, Pål Gunnar Mikkelsplass, has been giving the members of the national A and B teams technical advice during the camp in Val Senales.Av: Knut Seim Mikkelsplass, who resigned from his position as national coach after the 2001-2002 season, has been hired by the Norwegian Skiing Federation to act as a consultant in Val Senales. - My job here in Italy has been to give the coaches some relief, explains Mikkelsplass to XC-skiing.com. The focus has been on giving the athletes technical assistance and focus on details. For some time now, Torgeir Bjørn and Mikkelsplass have served as external experts for the national teams,and their main task has been to make sure that the skiers focus on the right aspects of technique training. - Torgeir Bjørn and I have been co-operating on this task. Torgeir has taken care of the work earlier this year, whereas I've accompanied the national teams here in Val Senales, says Mikkelsplass, who adds that he has no intention of entering a closer collaboration with the Norwegian Skiing Federation again. Mikkelsplass assures XC-skiing.com that his involvement with the national teams will be very limited later in the season. |
