The Cross Country World Cup might be finished however, the recent snow falls in the Alps have shown: The winter season 2014/15 is not yet over! ...and so is neither the FIS Marathon Cup!

The final of this year's edition will be held this weekend in Khanty-Mansiisk, Siberia.

For the Ugra Ski Marathon, so the name of the 50km FT race, it will be the first appearance in the FIS Marathon Cup calendar.

Khanty-Mansiisk, normally known as the host city of numerous Biathlon World Cups and World Championships, will now be the scene for the last stage of the FIS Marathon Cup 2014/15.

The new race course, which differs quite a bit from last year's setting, will still wind along the river / lake bank close to the city. However, this year's edition will contain more elevation than in the past.

Almost 1200 skiers from 10 countries will take the start on Saturday in one of the race distances offered by the organisers. These will be either 50km FT, 25km FT or 5km FT.

The weather forecast announces around 0 degrees for the race day, however rain and up to 6 degrees the day before.

A real spring time finish of the season for all athletes of the FIS Marathon Cup.

The racers – who is on the start list?
All the main figures of this season's FIS Marathon Cup will be on the start line! The battle for the first places is not yet over and it is very tight on the top so that for several athletes everything is still possible.

The Ugra Ski Marathon is not only the decicive race on the men's side but also on the women's! In the past years, it has never been that close and that interesting until the very last race!

On the men's side, Petr Novak (CZE) is currently leading with 406 points in front of Benoit Chauvet (FRA, 347 points) and Sergio Bonaldi (ITA; 229 points).

On the women's side, it is even closer: Holly Brooks (USA) is currently leading with 455 points in front of Tatjana Mannima (EST, 451 points) and Aurelie Dabudyk (FRA, 404 points).

The full current standing can be found here.

Who else, apart from those six, is on the start list?

On the men's side the best Russian skiers will be present with, besides others, Alexander Legokov, Eugeniy Dementiev, Sergey Turyshev, Evgeniy Belov, Anton Gafarov and Sergey Ustiugov.

The French are coming with Bastien Poirrier, Adrien Mougel, Christiophe Perrillat-Collomb, Ivan Perrillat-Boiteux, Damien Tarantola, Emilien Buisson and Mathias Wibault.

Simone Paredi will fight alongside his compatriote Bonaldi while Toni Livers will be the only Swiss on the men's side. The same goes for Aliaksei Ivanou who is the only contestant for Belarussia.

On the women's side, besides the three best in the overall standing, there will be Antonella Confortola (ITA), Ekaterina Rudakova (BLR) and many Russian girls like Evgenia Shapovalopa, trying to show the guests who the "queen of Siberia" is.

With the victories in the overall cup still open on both sides, it will surely be a hugely interesting race and one which should not be missed!

The complete startlist can be found here.
