European Ski Marathon Congress 2014 in Bessans/ France

38 delegates and experts from 11 countries met in Bessans for the European Ski Marathon Congress 2014.

The delegates talked, discussed and worked on the topic Ski Marathon in Europe for 4 days. The EUC, umbrella organization of Euroloppet and the OC Marathon de Bessans as host invited to the European Ski Marathon Congress.

New Ski Marathon races applied for becoming a member of the Euroloppet series, for which the delegates voted without a dissentient vote.

The following races are admitted in the Euroloppet series from 2015:

7Mila - in Umeo /Sweden 74km /40 km 24 km in classic technique.
Ugra Ski Marathon – Khanti Mansisk / Russia 42 km free technique.
Murmansk Ski Marathon – Murmansk / Russia 50 km free technique.

From 2016 a new Italian race, Marcia Gran Paradiso in Cogno / Aostatal, will replace La Sgambeda / Livigno as Euroloppet main race.

La Sgambeda will quit as Euroloppet race in May 30th 2015.

All Euroloppet Ski Marathon runners can be glad that the Euroloppet Racer Aktion +1 will be arranged every year.

This means, who absolves 3 Euroloppet races in season, gets a freestart for a Euroloppet race, which he didn’t visit in the last winter.

Each Euroloppet organizer provides at least 30 freestart vouchers for supporting the Euroloppet Passport Holders. If 450 freestarts won’t be enough per year, the OC Skadi Loppet/ Germany and the OC Sumavsky Skimarathon/ Czech Republic will provide further 70 freestart voucher per race. This measurement has a worth of ca. 20.000 € by which Euroloppet supports the Passport Holders.

A further appeal to participate in a Euroloppet race as Euroloppet Passport Holder will be available from 2015. Cross Country Ski Holidays provides 8 holiday vouchers for 2 persons/ for one week with a worth of ca. 1.000 € per voucher as new partner of Euroloppet. The travelling vouchers from Cross Country Ski Holidays will be raffled under all participants with a Euroloppet Passport at eight Euroloppet main races.

Euroloppet and Marathon Skier, an international web-magazine, which reports from Ski Marathon events all over the world signed a cooperation, which makes Euroloppet Passport Holders happy.

Marathon Skier supports all Euroloppet Passport Holders with two issues for free. Additionally, the Euroloppet Passport holders will pay for a one-year subscription 36.-€ instead of 45.-€. Here you can find an issue for free http://marathonskier.com/magazines/magazine-skier-magazine.html

The Ski Marathon Runners in Sweden and Finland gets an special support. The EUC decided to introduce the Sverige- and Suomi Euroloppet Racer from 2015.

Who absolves the Vuokatti Hiihto and two further Partner Races in Finland is Suomi Euroloppet Racer and gets everal benefits. The same procedure is valid for the Swedish runners. There, you have to absolve Engelbrektsloppet and 7Mila as Euroloppet main race and one Partner Race in Sweden. The EUC wants to support the Ski Marathon runners in Finland and Sweden because of the geographic distance that they can also become a Euroloppet Racer.

The European Ski Marathon Championships, which will take part in Germany - Skadi Loppet in 2015 and in 2016 in Spain - Marxa Beret, the next locations were set:

2017 Finland - Vuokatti Hiihto in Vuokatti.
2018 Switzerland - Gommerlauf in Obergoms.
2019 France - Marathon de Bessans.

Additionally the EUC decided to post more news about sports in summer, which are used by Ski Marathon runners at euroloppet.com.

The project is called nordic summer. From the end of July, dates from European events of roller skiing, trail-running and mountainbiking will be offered.
