Petter Northug to race the 50th Engadin Skimarathon

Petter Northug will be competing in the 50th Engadin Skimarathon on Sunday.

The Norwegian superstar has decided at short notice to come to the Engadin and to take part in a race after having taken a longer break.

Petter Northug will face strong competition – with Engadin Skimarathon winners Roman Furger (SUI – 2012/2016), Ilia Chernousov (RUS – 2015), Anders Gløersen (NOR – 2014) und Remo Fischer (SUI – 2011).

Eight out of the top ten of the present Worldloppet-ranking will be at the start; including leader Ivan Perrillat Boiteux and last year’s overall winner Candide Pralong (FRA).

In the women’s race, a Swiss is regarded as a top favorite to win: Nadine Fähndrich has shown strong results at the Olympic Games and in the World Cup lately.

2017 winner Mari Eide (NOR), who also won the Engadin Night Sprint on Friday, Aurelie Dabudyk (FRA), present Worldloppet-Leader and overall winner in 2016 and 2017, as well as Maria Graefnings (SWE) and Rahel Imoberdorf (SUI) will be among her strongest opponents.
