PREVIEW WOMEN’S 3-DAYS TOUR RUKA – 27-29 Nov 2020

• The previous 10 overall wins in the 3-Days Tour have only been divided between Norway (9) and Sweden (1).

• Bjørgen (2010-2014), Therese Johaug (2015, 2018-2019) and Heidi Weng (2016) emerged victorious for Norway. The only non-Norwegian triumph was achieved by Charlotte Kalla in 2017.

• Norway has claimed 22 of all 30 podium spots in 3-Days Tour history (73%). Only Sweden (5), Poland (2) and Finland (1) also managed to record a top-three finish in the competition.

• Last season, there was an all-Norwegian podium as Johaug won ahead of her compatriots Heidi Weng and Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen.

• The winner of the 3-Days Tour went on to win the overall World Cup that season in five out of the previous 10 editions (50%): Bjørgen in 2011/12 and 2014/15, Heidi Weng in 2016/17, and Johaug in both 2015/16 and 2019/20.

• Bjørgen (2013) and Kalla (2017) are the only women to have won the 3-Days Tour without claiming any of the three stage wins that edition.

THERESE JOHAUG

• Therese Johaug is aiming for a fourth overall win in the 3-Days Tour, after 2015, 2018 and 2019. Only Marit Bjørgen (5) has also won multiple 3-Days Tours.

• Johaug and Bjørgen (both 6) share the women’s record for most podium finishes in the competition. Johaug finished runner-up in 2011 and 2014, while taking third place in 2013.

• Johaug has claimed nine overall titles in one of the Tours (3-Days Tour, Ski Tour, Ski Tour Canada, Tour de Ski and World Cup Final), only trailing Bjørgen (12) for most.

• Johaug won all three Tours in the 2019/20 World Cup season: the 3-Days Tour, the Tour de Ski and Ski Tour.

• Johaug has claimed 20 overall podium spots in one of the Tours (3-Days Tour, Ski Tour, Ski Tour Canada, Tour de Ski and World Cup Final), most among men and women. Bjørgen stood on the overall podium on 16 occasions in one of the Tours.

HEIDI WENG

• Heidi Weng won the 3-Days Tour in 2016 and could join Marit Bjørgen (5) and Therese Johaug (3) as the only women to have won this competition on multiple occasions.

• Weng took second place in the 3-Days Tour last year, finishing 1:11.3 behind winner Johaug.

• Weng (4) only trails Bjørgen and Johaug (both 6) for most overall podium finishes in this competition. Weng also came third in 2012 and 2014.

• Weng claimed a total of 14 podium places in all Tours combined (3-Days Tour, Ski Tour, Ski Tour Canada, Tour de Ski and World Cup Final). Only Johaug (20) and Bjørgen have achieved more among women.

OTHER CONTENDERS

• Natalia Nepryaeva was the only non-Norwegian woman to finish on the overall podium in one of the Tours last season (3-Days Tour, Tour de Ski and Ski Tour). Nepryaeva finished runner-up in the 2019/20 Tour de Ski.

• Nepryaeva could become the first Russian female skier to reach the overall podium in the 3-Days-Tour. Russia’s best result in this competition is a fifth place by Yulia Tchekaleva in 2010.

• Jessica Diggins is hoping to become the first non-European winner of one of the Tours (3-Days Tour, Ski Tour, Ski Tour Canada, Tour de Ski and World Cup Final).

• Diggins’ best result in one of the Tours (3-Days Tour, Ski Tour, Ski Tour Canada, Tour de Ski and World Cup Final) is a second place in the 2017/18 World Cup Final.

• Krista Pärmäkoski eyes to become the second woman from Finland to win one of the Tours (3-Days Tour, Ski Tour, Ski Tour Canada, Tour de Ski and World Cup Final), after Virpi Kuitunen won three Tours between 2007 and 2009.

• Pärmäkoski could finish on the overall podium of the 3-Days Tour for the second time, after a third place in 2016.

• Pärmäkoski is one of four women to have participated in all previous 10 editions of the 3-Days Tour, alongside Laura Mononen, Masako Ishida and Alena Procházková.

• Sweden have claimed only three overall titles in one of the Tours (3-Days Tour, Ski Tour, Ski Tour Canada, Tour de Ski and World Cup Final). Charlotte Kalla won the 2007/08 Tour de Ski and the 3-Days Tour in 2017, while Stina Nilsson emerged victorious in the 2018/19 World Cup Finals.
